In turn 2526, after dragonriders accidentally activated an emergency distress signal during the destruction of the Red Star, Pern was rediscovered by the rest of the galaxy. Immediately after, the Pernese home planet became a curiosity for the rest of the intergalactic population. The population was quickly thrust in to a period of rapid growth as technology flooded in.
However, dragons, as their intelligence became known, became a point of contention – the creation of a sentient species bound to humans on pain of death violated more than a few laws. The Pernese were suddenly confronted with several groups: those that supported their weyrs, those that were disgusted by them, and those that wanted to monetize them.
After an attack on and the subsequent death of a weyrling, the planet became restricted. No one was allowed off or on, though firelizards and whers had already been brought to the galaxy at large. It wasn’t until almost fifty years later, thanks to the effort of one Ioan Shepherd, that the Pernese finally came off world. Where they came?
Artemis Colony.

CURRENT EVENTS
- Gold Caprith has laid Artemis Colony’s first ever clutch on the sands. Dragonriders are eagerly searching for colonists willing and able to stand as candidates.
The Sparta and Argos corps have mobilized and are eagerly hunting down local wildlife samples! Adventurous whers, dragons, handlers, and riders are sure to find their fill of excitement.
Artemis has collected a peculiarly large amount of geneticists, and it seems like more are arriving each day. What, if anything, does Shepherd have up his sleeve this time?
- No color hierarchy – Artemis Colony has no weyrwoman or weyrleader. Instead, the colony is led by a weyrcouncil headed by Shepherd.
No color restrictions – As all current dragons have been transfers from pernese weyrs, there’s no limit on what colors can or can’t be applied.
No sexuality or gender based Impressions – Every character has an equal opportunity to impress any color.
A unique setting – Artemis Colony is on a planet still in the megafauna stage with massive animals, some with latent psychics. Much of the ground has yet to be explored and mapped – who knows what could be waiting to be discovered? If tromping around the planet isn’t your fancy, the scientists are constantly buzzing around the labs, researching, changing, and gathering information.
Augmentations and Implants – From something as simple to pink eyes to the ability to use telekinesis for flight, the implant and augmentation system offers several abilities for characters.
Several ranking positions open for play – The entire weyrcouncil is open, as are ranking positions in wings, squads, and the science department.
