At last, she awoke. Slowly at first, than all of a sudden as she realized her surroundings are not what she recalled them being. She had fallen asleep in a tree, hadn't she? Then why did it seem like she was on the ground? Wait, no, not on the ground. Just a low, scrawny tree. (Scrawny to her, anyways. She was used to trees far larger than this.) Instantly, she was on alert. Had someone moved her in the night? She wasn't prone to sleepwalking or flying, so why was she here? Was the Enemy nearby? Too many questions, not enough answers. Cautiously, she poked her head out of her nest-like area, scanning her surroundings. Nothing left or right, and there wasn't much left above her to look at. Funny, she didn't remember falling asleep close to the Highest Roof. The most disturbing thing, however, was when she looked down. The ground was so close! 20 feet down, if that! What was going on? What was this strange place, with its shrunken ground and piddly trees?
No. She must remain calm. It's a trick, it's all just one big trick. He WANTED her to be worried, so worry she must not. She had to remain calm and deal with this situation in a collected manor. Zxenleous hopped out of her nest, and cautiously lowered herself to the ground, first testing forest floor with one tentative foot after the other. The texture felt strange under her feet, soft and springy unlike the sure solid wood she was used to. At this point she was hoping to run into something, anything, that could tell her what was the matter.
Had she stopped to listen to the trees, however, she would have learned that things had gone far beyond her wildest dreams.

Flying was quite exhilarating! Or it had been, right until it stopped. It had been a nasty landing, but clearly not as nasty as one might expect, seeing as Burl was now bumbling merrily through the forest. The great outdoors! The wild! If it had lungs they'd take a deep breath of that sweet feral air. Instead it merrily waved its leaf in the nonexistent breeze. It wasn't exactly a picnic, trying to roll through moss and wet leaves and roots (Roots had proven to be a particular thorn in its side- It had been stuck in one the night before, and after exchanging several harsh words and well deserved slaps across the bark of the offending tree, they'd both come to the agreeable solution that Burl should go around, instead of the tree moving out of its path.
To avenge its wounded pride, Burl had started screaming. Rolling through the woods at the breakneck speed of twenty-feet a minute, screeching a single, pure, unwavering high-C note to whoever (or whatever) could hear it. Burl hoped it was ruining everyone's sleep. The idea that it was destroying the nightly slumber of the wildlife about it gave it a rush of satisfaction like no other.
Two thin trunks rose into its radar. Mossy trunks. Furry trunks. Leg trunks. As Burl rolled closer it could 'view' more and more of the creature- Werewolf, perhaps? Bugbear, maybe? Burl picked up speed, hurling itself into the creatures leg-trunks with far more force that was necessary. Even here, even close, it could not 'see' the whole creature- it extended out of its range. But what it could sense was odd. Different. Burl was not experienced in the world, so truly, all things were odd and different. All the while it was screaming, right up until it stopped, without breath or pause between, to say in a remarkably deep, rumbling baritone "Well you're quite the piece of patchwork, aren't you?"
